Consider adopting a horse from the islands! We are pleased to have Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare (CTA) join our growing family of Thoroughbred rescue and retraining centers.
Did you know that hundreds of Thoroughbred racehorses bred in the States arrive in Puerto Rico and surrounding islands each year? Plus, all of the racehorses bred in Puerto Rico annually are also US horses, and are registered with the Jockey Club with their charts maintained by Equibase. Imagine the challenge of transitioning thoroughbreds born in the States back to the mainland. CTA believes every racehorse deserves a happy ending – even if that race career ends in a remote Caribbean destination
Though CTA is a relatively new non-profit aftercare, some of the people behind CTA have been retiring, rehabilitating and rehoming OTTBs for over a decade. CTA provides a process for Thoroughbreds that have been shipped to the islands to race, as well as those born in Puerto Rico, to find good second careers in the islands and back in the States. Because of their island location, CTA is able to work with adopters to assist them in bringing home the horse of their dreams.
Please join us in supporting CTA because of the amazing work that they do. CTA is a registered 501(c)(3). Visit their website for more information, including their adoption contract, policies, and events: CTA Website.
